It’s not a cheater.
It’s a teacher.
ChordBuddy is like training wheels for your guitar. It clips onto the neck so you can play real songs from day one. Then, as your hands and confidence grow, the tabs come off one at a time until you’re playing on your own — in about 60 days for many beginners. But it’s not a race. Learn at your pace and enjoy making music from the start.

Turn “that’s cheating” into “now I get it.”
Some people see the colored tabs and think ChordBuddy does the learning for you. It doesn’t. The tabs are designed to come off.
Think about the training wheels on a bicycle. They let you pedal, steer, balance, and feel the fun of riding before you can do everything on your own. Then you remove them.
ChordBuddy works the same way. From the first day, you build rhythm, timing, finger strength, dexterity, and your ear while playing songs you recognize. As those skills grow, you remove one tab at a time and learn the chord shapes yourself.
The goal is not to keep ChordBuddy on your guitar. The goal is to get you playing without it.
How it works in three steps
1. Clip it on
Attach ChordBuddy to a compatible acoustic or electric guitar in minutes.
2. Play on day one
Press the colored tabs to play G, C, D, and Em. Start strumming real songs instead of waiting weeks to sound musical.
3. Take the tabs off
Begin with the D tab, then remove the others one at a time as you learn each chord shape. Go at your own pace. It’s not a race.
Step-by-step video lessons — taught by the inventor himself
Travis Perry is a music teacher who invented ChordBuddy in his own classroom. In these step-by-step videos, he walks you through everything: clipping it on, playing your first song, and taking each tab off until you are playing on your own.
You are not learning from a stranger on the internet. You are learning from the man who built it.

The number one reason adults quit guitar is simple: they spend weeks with sore fingers before they can play the first real song. Practice feels like work, and the payoff feels too far away.
ChordBuddy changes the order. You make music first. While you are playing, you build rhythm, timing, hand strength, finger dexterity, and confidence. Then the tabs come off as you learn the chord shapes.
When practice sounds like music, it is a lot easier to pick up the guitar again tomorrow.

Questions beginners ask
Am I too old to start learning guitar?
No. ChordBuddy is made for beginners, including adults who have wanted to play for years. You start by making music, then learn each chord shape at your own pace. It’s not a race.
Will ChordBuddy fit my guitar?
ChordBuddy fits many full-size, six-string acoustic and electric guitars. Measure across the neck at the nut — the white bar between the frets and tuning pegs. It should be about 1¾ inches wide, with a minimum of 1½ inches and a maximum of 1⅝ inches. The distance from the nut to the third fret should be about 4 inches.
Are there guitars it will not fit?
Yes. The standard ChordBuddy will not fit half-size or ¾-size guitars, or any guitar with a neck narrower than 1½ inches. A classical guitar with a 2-inch-wide nut requires the separate Classical ChordBuddy listing.
Do I need a right-hand or left-hand model?
If you strum with your right hand and the thickest string is on top, choose the right-hand model. If you strum with your left hand and the thickest string is on top, choose the left-hand model.
What if ChordBuddy doesn’t work for me?
Contact us within 30 days and we’ll arrange a full refund under the 30-day money-back guarantee.

A Shark Tank success story — made in the U.S.A.
ChordBuddy appeared on Shark Tank in 2012. Inventor Travis Perry received four offers before making a deal with Robert Herjavec. That opportunity helped ChordBuddy grow while continuing to be made in the U.S.A.
What started as one music teacher’s way to help beginners enjoy the guitar has now helped more than 300,000 beginners start playing.
